Cotton Twine Bracelets

Desperate times call for desperate measures sometimes...and this was the case with me last week.
My husband got me a gift card to Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores for my birthday, so I decided to head over there after I dropped my husband off at work. I have purchased a lot of new yarn lately, so I decided I would buy some other fun crafty supplies with it instead.

I bought a new crochet hook, buttons, bracelet clasps, and a few other fun things. And then I headed back to wait for my husband to get out of work (we share one vehicle and I decided to just save the gas and stay in town).
Once I got back to his work I realized I misjudged my time and I still had an hour or so before he was out. What was I to do?! I didn't bring my crochet supplies with me!! Ahhhh!!!
And then I remembered that I just bought a hook, so all I really needed was yarn! But, the local yarn store was closed, so instead of going back to Jo-ann's I went to Family Dollar and started searching and I came up with this cotton twine!

It took me a bit to come up with a project for it though. I started a Christmas ornament and ripped it out. I brainstormed a little more and then that wonderful light bulb came on and I remembered the other supplies I had just purchased. So, if I put them all together, what could I make?

BRACELETS!!! I could make quick, but fun bracelets!

I made 3 strands of Ch-20

Then I tied them together and attached them to one piece of the bracelet clips and braided them. Then I attached it to the other side of the bracelet clip.

Then I put a shank button in the center and attached it with a separate piece of twine. I pulled the twine through the shank on the button and tied it around the middle strand of the braid.

And presto, quick little bracelets that are a hit with kids! Even teens!

I initially made the mitten one, but when it was finished I had a request from my 11 year old son for his own. So we went through my buttons and came up with this totally awesome star bracelet!

I'm so bringing these to the craft fairs!

So, what do you think? I hope you like them and have fun making them! Join my Blackstone Designs Crochet Community group on Facebook to stay up to date, receive special offers, pattern support, and so much more! Hope to see you there!
